Jonathan Doorley is a Partner and Co-Head of New York, overseeing the growth and operations of Brunswick’s largest office in the Americas.

Jonathan is also Co-Lead of the firm’s Financial Situations practice, advising clients across industries on developing and implementing stakeholder engagement programs related to mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, and other complex capital markets matters.

In 2021, Brunswick’s Financial Situations practice advised on 213 transactions worth $490 billion and counseled corporate issuers on dozens of private and public engagements with activist shareholders. Jonathan’s representative recent engagement highlights include advising: Canadian National on its $34 billion unsolicited bid for Kansas City Southern and resolution agreement with TCI Fund Management; 7-Eleven on its $21 billion acquisition of Speedway; LVMH on its $16 billion acquisition of Tiffany & Co; M&T Bank on its $8 billion acquisition of People’s United; Viasat on its pending $7 billion acquisition of Inmarsat; Cooper Tire on its $2.5 billion acquisition by Goodyear; and Nasdaq on its $2.75 billion acquisition of Verafin.

Prior to joining Brunswick in 2017, Jonathan was a Partner and member of the Management Committee at Sard Verbinnen & Co, originally based in New York before launching and serving as Co-Head of the London office. During that time, he advised clients on cross-border and domestic M&A transactions, shareholder activism campaigns, and other event-driven matters.

Jonathan currently serves on Harvard Law School‘s Corporate Governance Roundtable Advisory Council and the New York Public Library’s Business Leadership Council, and previously served as an Advisory Board member at the Partnership for Inner-City Education for more than a decade. He holds an M.B.A. from The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a B.A. from Wake Forest University.
